Rangitoto NZ BY LAND AND SEA

  1. 600 Years Ago Rangitoto Island volcano was the youngest in NZ.
  2. Rangitoto neighbour is Motutapu.
  3. Rangitoto Island is known for its contrasting rugged lava terrain and abundant native plant life. It has the largest pōhutukawa forest in the world, and is a safe haven for endangered native birds.

    Thanks for sharing these great facts about Rangitoto. Did you find them on a website? I would love to know as I'm really keen to learn more about the island myself. I often see it when I am driving around Auckland but I really don't know much about it.

    Have you had the chance to visit Rangitoto? I would suggest that you go this holiday, however the weather is so poor, that I don't think that you'd enjoy it at all. It's a much better idea to visit the island when you have time to go for a walk up to the summit (top) of the volcano and share some snacks with friends and family you look back over Auckland. The view from the top of the island really is pretty spectacular!

    Speaking of spectacular, it would be pretty spectacular if you were able to post another Winter Learning Journey blog one day soon. We'd love to read it!
